Exmouth Beach
The beach is a glorious 2 mile stretch of golden sand, along the South West Coast and sits between the River Axe Estuary and Orcombe Point.
I grew up in a small seaside town called Teignmouth on the South coast of Devon and for the first time in my life I went to Exmouth beach the other day and let me tell you it wont be the last, it was absolutely beautiful!
Exmouth Beach is the western gateway to the famous Jurassic Coast, the beach is manned by lifeguards and has safe places to swim in between the flags. There are a wealth of rock pools to explore making this a fun spot for children. It can be quite windy so can be popular destination for watersports including kite surfing and windsurfing.
The tide going into the estuary is very very strong so do not think that you can swim across to Dawlish Warren even though it looks so close, it is very dangerous!
I would highly recommend visiting Exmouth Beach as part of a Cycle ride, you could do an easy ride from Exeter or if you want to challenge yourself a bit more try going from Dawlish, its a great day out and when the pubs and restaurants are open there are some amazing places to stop along the way!
There are chargeable parking spaces located all along the seafront - the further down you drive (away from the amenities) the more spaces you'll find.
Plenty of food and drink places and even a play park for the kiddies!
